The Harleysville Senior Center is a private non-profit agency established in 1975 to promote the well-being of senior citizens age 55 and above. Its 2500 members are drawn primarily from central Montgomery County - - Salford, Lower Salford, Upper Salford, Skippack, Perkiomen, Lower Frederick, and Towamencin Townships, and the Borough of Schwenksville - - but also include residents of other parts of Montgomery County, as well as areas of Bucks County and Philadelphia. The Center’s mission is to provide programs and activities to enrich seniors’ lives and to allow them to continue to function as vital members of the community.
Incorporated in 1975, the Center first operated in Alumni Hall, a building belonging to Lower Salford Township. In 1981, the Township purchased and remodeled a former factory, which has been the Center’s home ever since.
The Center operates from 9:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend programming. Among the programs regularly offered are:
